What an employer can do to really help expats adjust and aim for the best work results There are many ways a company can support its expat employees in adjusting to the new culture of their host country. Think of inhouse language classes, team events and mentor programs. Investing in support systems for new hirings is common and many companies have learned over the last decades that better working results and a lower turn rate can be expected when taking the responsibility to encourage and sponsor onboarding activities not only within the work process. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰? None of these settling programs do consider the situation of the accompanying partner. Who is in most cases the one holding the family together, whose mental stability is the key factor to a family's happiness. An unhappy spouse struggling with the emotional challenges of a move is the number 2 reason international assignments fail (Expat Insider Business Edition). Almost none family will pull through an expat adventure when meanwhile seeing their family falling apart. Investing in this almost invisible background support system of an expat employee will decrease the company's turn rate and improve the employees commitment. #rootshaarlem #socialsettling #socialrelocation #hr #talent #trailingspouses#trailingspouses #onboarding#onboarding #expats#expats #turnrate#turnrate
